BMW wanted to emphasise the lightness of the GS with the airy sub frame. Unfortunately this leaves the riders’, and espe- cially the passengers’ legs exposed to dirt and wetness. Water is splashed unhindered over the boots and thighs. The result is a soaking wet and soiled rider and passenger. But not just the users of the bike are affected, the water penetrates deep into any part of the rear sub frame and especially the rear shock absorber unit, battery and final drive. Any unprotected technical or metal part subjected to a constant torrent of dirty water will show effects. Oxidation and corrosion damage are predetermined, and cleaning the rear of the bike is a time consuming task.

The easily attached “Inner Fender” puts an end to all sorts of half baked solutions and protects the complete rear of the bike in a very impressive manner. In addition to providing excellent protection the fender also visually closes the gap between air box and rear wheel. The fender is made of tough black ABS plastic, and is quickly attached to the bike. It is held securely to the bike with strong cable ties, which means that anyone with basic skills can fit this part in a matter of minutes.
